The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador is building a new school in Kenmount Terrace to support the growing number of Kindergarten to Grade 12 students living in the area. While it is anticipated that the school will encompass primary and elementary grades, the Department of Education is gathering input on the grade configuration that will best meet the needs of the area. As well, the department is seeking input on the school system planning process for the entire Prince of Wales Collegiate School System to address the needs of the growing population on the Northeast Avalon.

The Department of Environment and Climate Change (Labour Standards Division) is seeking input from Newfoundlanders and Labradorians.

Every two years, the Provincial Government is legislated to conduct a review of the current minimum wage rate, as well as the adjustment process. The decision to adjust the minimum wage impacts employees and employers. To ensure all perspectives are being heard and to help inform Government in its decision-making process, employees, employers, stakeholders, and the general public are invited to provide input into this review.

The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador is developing a new Climate Change Mitigation Action Plan (2025-2030) to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and a new Climate Change Adaptation Action Plan (2025-2030) to help prepare for and reduce the impacts of climate change. The Department of Environment and Climate Change (ECC) is seeking input from partners, stakeholders, Indigenous governments and organizations, and the public on the development of these new Plans over the coming months.

The Department of Education, Literacy and Institutional Services Division is engaging stakeholders to help address challenges and opportunities related to adult literacy, foundational literacy, and high-school equivalency in Newfoundland and Labrador. The Department aims to gather valuable insights, opinions, and recommendations from the community to inform the next steps for adult literacy in our province.

The Department of Industry, Energy, and Technology (IET) sought input from stakeholders on ways to improve and modernize the Mineral Act and the Mining Act to provide a clear pathway for regulatory approval and to ensure exploration for, and development of, the province's mineral resources is responsible, timely, sustainable, competitive and supportive of private-sector investments and job growth.

Newfoundland and Labrador’s Crown lands are administered under the Lands Act and allocated as a public trust. The Provincial Government manages this valuable resource in a responsible manner for the continuous social and economic benefit of the province’s residents for present and future generations.

The Provincial Government is considering updating Lands Act to clarify adverse possession against the Crown and protect the land interests of the people of the province. To assist in this process, the province engaged the public and key stakeholders for input.

The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador’s Department of Immigration, Population Growth and Skills is conducting an independent review of the apprenticeship system throughout 2023 and into early 2024. The review serves to further enhance a continuously improving provincial apprenticeship system, evidenced by Newfoundland and Labrador tradespeople achieving the third-highest Red Seal pass rate in Canada for 2021 and 2022.
