Happy Valley-Goose Bay New Integrated Health, Housing, Treatment and Supportive Services Hub

Overview

Newfoundland and Labrador Housing (NL Housing) is planning the construction of a new integrated Health, Housing, Treatment and Supportive Services Hub (the Hub) in the Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay.

The goal of the new facility is to provide emergency shelter, bedsitters and supportive housing in a safe environment with integrated supports, treatment, and services for individuals experiencing homelessness.

Housing is an essential determinant of health and well-being, and stable housing is an effective starting point on the pathway to recovery. Positive outcomes are even more likely when the approach is informed by culturally appropriate supports and services. The proposed facility presents an important opportunity to meet people where they are, and to engage community and cultural supports in building trusting relationships. This space will work to complement and build upon existing health, treatment and community supports, and where appropriate, public safety measures.

Ongoing engagement and consultation aims to provide stakeholders and the public with an update on the design and purpose of the Hub, and to offer an opportunity for the public and users of the space to help define what the community programming spaces could be used for in meeting the needs of the community.

Additional information on the new Hub is available on the Newfoundland and Labrador Housing website: hvgbhub.ca.
