Overview
The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador wants your feedback on possible changes to the Highway Traffic Act. These changes would help keep the legislation current, effective and responsive to evolving road safety issues.
The consultation is open until Thursday, September 3, 2026. It will focus on four areas: e-bikes, e-scooters and other micro-mobility devices; car and booster seats for children; bicycle safety for children; and driving schools.
While consultation will focus on these four areas, you are also encouraged to share feedback on any other road safety issue you think should be considered. Your feedback will help guide possible changes to the legislation for the House of Assembly to consider.
We invite the public and interest groups to take part in this consultation process.
