Developed Renewable Resources

Currently, over 80 per cent of the province’s electricity is generated from renewable energy, and this will increase to 98 per cent with the in service of the Muskrat Falls hydroelectric project. This project will also result in approximately 3.5 terawatt hours of energy per year that is surplus to Newfoundland and Labrador’s current electricity needs.

Undeveloped Renewable Resources

Newfoundland and Labrador has an abundance of undeveloped renewable energy resources including: hydro, wind, biomass, solar, and wave/tidal.
