Interpersonal Violence Disclosure Protocol Act - 'Clare’s Law' Questionnaire

Intimate partner violence is a complex issue with serious consequences for victims, families and communities. The development of initiatives that address intimate partner violence is important to the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador.

The Interpersonal Violence Disclosure Protocol Act (the Act), commonly known as ‘Clare’s Law’ was passed in the House of Assembly in 2019 and will be an important tool in addressing this issue. The Act authorizes police to disclose a person's criminal history to that person's partner in certain circumstances. By providing applicants with information about their risk of experiencing intimate partner violence, individuals can make an informed decision about their safety.

Since the Act's introduction, the Department of Justice and Public Safety has been working with police agencies, other departments and stakeholders on implementation. As part of this process, the Department has invited targeted stakeholders with specific knowledge of the Act's complex considerations to complete this questionnaire.

This questionnaire will be available until TBD
